Flower Power!

Since we got off the road and I got a full-time job, my potential sewing time has been reduced dramatically. I do not like this. There's still 2 more quilts I want to finish by Christmas, and at this rate, that's never going to happen. I'm confident I'll get the tops done, but getting them quilted is a totally different story. I need to get them in NOW, otherwise there's no way they'll get done by Christmas :( But I'll keep truckin' along, hopefully the odds will be in my favor! On a positive note, I FINALLY got the Flower Power block from my Mario quilt done.

I'm Dreaming Of A...

...DIY Christmas! I discovered Pinterest a few weeks ago, and I have been having WAY too much fun with it! I've decided I want all my presents to be DIY this year, because it's usually so much cheaper and also a lot of fun :)

Before I start, I have a couple apologies:

A History

I wanted to post the last couple projects I've worked on, because other than a secret page on Facebook they aren't documented anywhere. So the last two quilt tops I recently finished were for my niece and nephew, who are 5 and 8 respectively. I mentioned both quilts in a previous post, but I never actually posted pics of the finished tops. For my niece, I made a princess quilt with all the Disney princesses using paper piecing patterns provided for free from the very wonderful Michelle Thompson at misha29.com. She's sort of the one who inspired me to make my Inside Out characters, so I'm pretty grateful to her :) Here's the princess quilt, which I nicknamed Operation: Pretty Princess:

I'm really worried she's going to drown in it, because not only is it really big, but also I'm putting Minky on the back AND batting in the middle D: Oh well, I guess >.<

Also check out Freshly Pieced and Sew Fresh Quilts, where I posted this quilt as part of a couple linky parties! They've both got a bunch of other links featuring different people's WIPs, in case you need inspiration to finish your own ;)

Revamp

So obviously, this blog kind of died. I've started making my own paper piecing patterns, though, so I'm going to try to revive it! I'm also going to post pics of all my latest projects, eventually =P To start, I'm going to add one of my own patterns: Anger from Inside Out! Here he is:

Inside Out - Anger
I'm going to work on organizing my blog and I'm using poor Anger here as my test subject. Let me know if you have any trouble with it, or if you have any questions about the pattern! I'm trying to figure out how to add color to each individual section of the pattern, but for now this will have to do.

~Colorado

Today we got to another fabric store, like, 3 days after visiting Albuquerque! This one's called Fabric Bliss, and they had a great selection of modern fabric, which is another of my favorite's. Today was their first day open in their new location. They only moved a few shops down, but they got more space by moving.

New Mexico~

Woohoo! It's been less than a week, and I've been to TWO more shops!! First is New Mexico!

We went to The Quilt Works in Albuquerque, which was a pretty fantastic shop. Lots of brights and Batiks and Kaffe Fassett. I wish it was my home town shop, seeing as brights and Batiks are my absolute favorites!

Finally, another! Ohio!

Well, it has been a WHILE! It's really quite sad that it took me this long to get to another shop =/

I did get to Fabric Depot in Portland on my way home between South Dakota and now, but I go there all the time and I had a shopping list for that one, so it doesn't really count.

The shop I visited in Ohio was called The Little Shop of Stitches (which is a fantastic name, if I do say so myself. I'm a huge fan of musicals, especially Little Shop of Horrors, so I was pretty excited about this one).
